JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Access Facilitator interviews patients to obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for registration purposes, insurance verifications, and implementation of TPL/Managed Care guidelines relating to priority determination, coverage identification, and managed care requirements. Collects "Point of Service" payments to satisfy financial obligations as required. Requires general supervision and instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new activities or special assignments. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Advanced coursework related to computers, customer service, and/or medical terminology preferred.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Six months of scheduling or clerical experience.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks and maintain control of work flow in a multi-faceted environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and correct grammatical structure.
  • Good critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to develop solutions to moderately complex problems. May refer to established precedents or policies.
  • Good attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform data entry and navigate in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to request/collect "Point of Service" payments.
  • Strong customer service skills in person and via telephone or e-mail.
  • Ability to follow and apply insurance guidelines/requirements regarding Third Party Payors, Coordination of Benefits, and Managed Care contractual requirements. May adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.

 Additional Information

Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
Rotating Shifts may be required.
